Their energy, strength, senses, and life force are linked. When Korvhalen is severely wounded, his bonded dragon can transfer its own life energy through their bond and regenerate him. When his dragon is wounded, Korvhalen can return that energy and help regenerate the dragon. The same sacred bond exists between Seraphyra and her dragon. The dragons are therefore more than companions or weapons. They are extensions of their Dragon Lords’ lives. They share power. They share pain. They regenerate one another. They fight as separate beings but exist as one bonded force. And that bond exists for a greater purpose: TO KEEP THEIR SOVEREIGN CRYSTAL SAFE. WHY KORVHALEN WEARS HIS GLASSES Korvhalen’s glasses are not fashion. They are restraints. Behind them are blazing light-blue eyes containing one of his most dangerous natural abilities. When the glasses remain on, they suppress and regulate the enormous energy flowing through his eyes, allowing Korvhalen to move among allies without accidentally releasing his full power. But when the glasses come off, the restraint is gone. His eyes ignite blazing light blue. Korvhalen can unleash an extraordinarily powerful optic energy blast directly from his eyes. But his ability goes much further than simply firing energy. THOUGHT-FORM OPTIC POWER When Korvhalen enters defense mode, his mind and eyes operate together. What Korvhalen thinks can manifest through his eye blast. His imagination becomes part of the weapon. If he thinks of an ice wall, his optic energy can construct one. If he needs a bridge, his gaze can form a path across impossible terrain. If he needs to freeze an advancing army, his eyes can unleash overwhelming freezing energy. If a vehicle, structure, or weapon threatens those under his protection, his gaze can freeze, tear apart, or overwhelm the target. The stronger his defensive purpose becomes, the more devastating the manifestation can become. His glasses therefore protect more than Korvhalen. They protect everyone around him from Korvhalen. Only when he deliberately removes them does an enemy understand the true scale of the power hidden behind his blazing light-blue eyes. THE FLOOD LEGIONS Yet most enemies will never get close enough to witness Korvhalen’s full power. A Dragon Lord does not immediately enter every battle personally. Korvhalen commands his own Flood Legions—multiple breeds and classes of terrifying creatures created, raised, and commanded to defend his territory and the Eternity Soul Crystal. Different Flood creatures serve different battlefield purposes. Some hunt. Some overwhelm armies through sheer numbers. Some attack from the skies. Some stalk enemies through darkness and frozen terrain. Others act as enormous siege creatures capable of attacking fortified positions and enemy machines. When an enemy approaches Korvhalen’s domain, the Flood goes first. Wave after wave is sent against the invaders before Korvhalen ever gets his hands dirty. Only an enemy powerful enough to survive the Flood Legions earns the terrible privilege of facing the Dragon Lord, Princess, and their bonded dragons themselves.
